Full-Time Technical Writer
Job Description
Works internally and with customer organizations to develop, plan, write, and edit technical documentation using a variety of formats. Ensures that the documentation is written clearly and suited to the needs of the customer’s users, whose technical product knowledge ranges from limited to highly proficient.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Researches, analyzes, and writes various technical documentation products with guidance from intermediate or senior writers
- Works closely with senior writers and subject matter experts to gain knowledge of domain and process
- Demonstrates a thirst for knowledge; proactively seeks to learn
- Works with editors and technical resources to improve document quality and usability
- Understands technical subject matter and writes clear and accurate documents based on this understanding
- Solves problems, of limited to moderate scope, related to the creation and maintenance of technical documents
- Uses authoring tools and understands DITA-XML concepts
Qualifications
- Industry certification, college diploma, or university degree in one of the following streams: engineering / computer application / technical writing / e-learning / technology (BE/ME, B Tech/
M Tech, BCA/MCA) - 1 – 3 years of experience as technical writer
- General knowledge of technical writing, including the processes used to develop and publish technical literature
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Graphic and video creation and editing experience an asset
- Search-engine optimization (SEO) experience an asset
- Knowledge of information architecture (IA) an asset
