Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY (Dublin)
Manager of Software Development reports to the CTO and leads an agile team in planning and building cloud-based Web and mobile healthcare software solutions. This position manages the software development team and the development process, and requires strong leadership and technical skills. The work includes managing a team in Ireland and offshore companies and teams doing new development on the Linux/Python/Django/Node platform and integration and re-writing of software from other platforms including .Net, Rails, PHP, and Java.
Knowledge of Russian would be helpful (to work with offshore teams), but not required.
Salary 60,000 – 80,000 Euro/year depending on experience and qualifications. Bonus and benefits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
– Discuss and implement CTO’s directives on software development and team management.
– Plan the development and maintenance of the new and integrate or re-write existing Web and mobile software solutions for healthcare.
– Build and manage the software development teams including in-office and remote employees and contractors.
– Manage software projects through the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, documentation, development, engineering testing and maintenance.
– Collaborate with Product Development on product roadmaps and feature implementation.
– Work closely with DevOps on software deployment and bug fixes.
– Match software development priorities with business needs and requirements.
– Provide effective and consistent communication to peers, reports and management about project status and team health.
– Mentor the development team, leading by example.
– Ensure the production of compelling and reasonably bug-free software.
– Perform other similar or related duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required, master’s degree preferred.
– Strong grasp of current technologies and platforms.
– Excellent communication skills.
– 5+ years of software development management experience, with the emphasis on large scale Web development.
– Solid understanding of agile software development process.
– General understanding of software architectures, components, patterns and frameworks.
– Experience with project management, SCM and bug tracking software such as Basecamp, TFS, JIRA and GitHub, SVN useful, git preferred.
