Full-Time Senior Tester / Test Engineer

Job Description

DESCRIPTION

To provide input into test processes, schedules and conditions and to execute tests on the product software to verify accuracy and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Documenting:   Keep it up to Date & Accurate

 

Planning:             Creation of the test schedules

 

Test Conditions: What they are and what results to expect?

 

Testing:                Follow the agreed schedule

Execution of business test cycles and regression testing

Verification of test conditions against expected results

Retesting defect fixes

 

Reporting:           Updating test conditions to reflect the test results

Logging and tracking errors

Progress against the agreed schedule

Liaising with other teams to clarify issues

 

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5 years prior experience with 2 years’ experience in a senior role
  • Prior experience of a test role in the financial services sector
  • Relevant 3rd level qualification
  • Excellent English, verbal and written communication
  • Ability to prioritise and execute on priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills, numerical ability and problem solving skills
  • Experience supporting testing activities for multiple projects
  • Process driven – but with the ability to make recommendations and assess risks
  • Excellent understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and test processes
  • Can work as part of a team, take responsibility and work on own initiative
  • Ability to work with other disciplines to solve problems and ensure progress
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn and become expert.

 

Technical

  • Good experience RDBMS – preferably Oracle
  • Ability to read and write SQL
  • Linux / Unix skills
  • Strong understanding of background processing and interfaces
  • Experience of deploying software to Websphere
  • Prior experience of defect tracking systems – e.g. Mantis, Bugzilla
  • Ability to learn new skills with appropriate training and documentation
  • Good experience of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.)

 

Desirable

  • ISEB/ISTQB certification is very beneficial
  • Prior experience of testing banking software
