Full-Time Kindle Technical Writer
Job Description
Amazon is seeking an experienced Kindle Technical Writer to create a road map for our Devices and Digital content. The successful candidate will focus on enhancing and supporting existing technical authoring program. The role will develop and execute a tactical plan to ensure our Devices and Digital support content is accessible and highly useable. They will dive deeply into available data and assess the user experience to understand internal and external customer content needs on a large scale.
Technical writers create documentation in many forms, such as web-based and other electronic means across multiple platform.
Specifically, the Technical Writer will:
- Envision, articulate and drive forward cutting-edge innovations of our authoring plan.
- Drive and develop scalable taxonomy solutions
- Provide input to develop multiplatform content experience including mobile experience optimization
- Optimize content for scalability and fundability
- Develop scalable, high quality text and multimedia solutions for internal and external customers.
- Advocate for DITA knowledge and act as a SME for other team members
- Measure the content performance driving continue improvement
- Research and incorporate industry best practices and innovation into our authoring strategy
- Partner and engage with multiple cross-functional stakeholders on overall content organization, and prioritization
- Develop efficient processes and governance models for Amazon’s Digital and Devices content and localization plan.
- Support several projects at one time, and to accept reprioritization as necessary
S/he will aggressively deliver on incremental projects and tactical work that leads to achieving an overall world-class authoring function within Amazon Customer Service.
In this role the successful candidate will get to make quick decisions under pressure in ambiguous circumstances and show off your exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
Basic Qualifications
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth and hands on DITA experience
- In-depth XML and HTML knowledge
- Experience working in a global cross-functional team
- Content management and solid authoring experience
- Fluency in Microsoft Office application
- Strong drive to create efficient systems and processes
- Fluency in English
- Ability to travel
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of the SDL Trisoft/LiveContent CMS and other similar content management systems
- Demonstrated experience of web publishing technologies and search engine optimization
