Full-Time E-Commerce Web Developer
Job Description
Role Description: The ideal person will have at least four years’ commercial experience developing web-based applications using PHP/MySQL and XHTML/CSS. Our core development is in PHP but ideally your skills should also extend to having other strong programming capability e.g. JavaScript and Ajax, coupled with substantial appreciation for OOP. You should feel comfortable getting to grips with large systems quickly and have strong analytical skills. You should also be capable of taking responsibility and ownership of tasks and developing systems/components to tight deadlines. You should have excellent communications skills, be comfortable with changing business requirements and have a great ability to interact with and understand a user’s requirements. You should be a very energetic, team player, that knows how to produce very good documentation and appreciates its value but most importantly of all, you should love to code.
Attitude, Skills and Behavioural Competencies:
- 4 + years commercial experience in PHP development
- Strong software engineering skills.
- Knowledge of system testing & other testing processes
- Takes accountability for technical issues that may have been escalated and ensures they are resolved
- Problem solving attitude
- Self-Motivated
- Understands key project objectives and uses this knowledge to focus their work.
- Is aware of internal / external technical issues and best practice in own discipline and applies this to own job
- Sound comprehensive communication required to exchange complex information, sensitive to audience diversity.
- Good analytical and prototyping skills
- Fluent English is essential
Technical Requirements Required: You will need to be competent in the following areas of website development:
- Experience in Open Cart, PrestaShop and Magento or a similar ecommerce platform
- Experience with SOAP and ReST web services is desired but not essential
- Experience in developing with PHP/JS/XHTML/CSS/MySQL
- Experience in the SDLC, creating technical documentation and specifications
- Linux, Apache, and Subversion
- Familiarity with transactional processing and triggers
- Knowledge of design patterns and aspect/object oriented programming
- Knowledge of TDD
- Experience with Ajax and jQuery
- Experience in development with external APIs would be advantageous
- Knowledge of ERP systems is preferred
Additional Skills and Experience:
- Have at least 4+ years working in a website agency with ecommerce sites
- Have worked with PayPal, Realex or other payment processing gateways
Salary is negotiable on experience.
