Process Technician – Polymer Processing (Experienced or Scientific/Engineering Graduate Opportunity)

£16,000 - £19,000 DOE

As a global company, our client is a leading manufacturer of polycarbonate sheet products for roofing, building and semi-finished products. An opportunity has now arisen for a Process Technician to join their team.

This is the ideal role for a scientific or engineering graduate (or equivalent) or a technician from a polymer processing environment, looking to develop their skills within a well established company.

As a Process Technician, you will be responsible for the standardisation and optimisation of processing parameters and techniques used in the manufacture of all products. This will involve using established and best practice processing and monitoring technologies.

Analysing raw material performance, trouble shooting machine processing problems and assisting in the training of technical operators are also key duties of the role.

You will be tasked with:

- Establishing standard settings for the running of all current products
- Developing safe working methods for all aspects of production
- Monitoring production quality levels and feeding back any necessary corrections
- Successfully co-ordinating and implementing TPM

To be considered for the role of Process Technician, you must have one of the following:

- A third level qualification such as a degree (or equivalent) in polymer science, mechanical engineering or a similar scientific or engineering discipline
- Significant technical experience within a polymer processing environment

Additionally, you must have good interpersonal and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem solving skills are also key. A good knowledge of Windows software is also essential.

Although not essential, experience as a process technician or process engineer would be a distinct advantage to your application, as would experience of using manufacturing processes such as Lean, Six Sigma or TPM. People management experience or a track record of managing health and safety in an industrial environment would also be beneficial.
