Product Design Engineer - Contract Full-time

My Midlands based client has a contract for a PRODUCT DESIGN ENGINEER:

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Successful applicants will work within a team of Engineers and Designers gaining extensive experience in all aspects of the design of high pressure, flow controlling devices.
This position entails:
Participating in design projects from inception to completion. This involves proposing and appraising technical solutions to customer applications, design of final product and close involvement in manufacturing / testing.
Review customer inquiry packages, preparation of product specification sheets resulting in quotations to customers.
Developing and qualifying product designs and developing the required design documents (i.e. instructions, procedures, specifications and drawings) for the plant to implement designs.
Document design analysis and review to documented design standards or other industry codes, standards and specifications and customer design requirements as applicable.
Preparation of all related documentation for customer sales orders, including, product structure, part change history recording, assembly and testing requirements.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
Good communication skills, oral, written and presentation.
Project management skills and attention to detail are important skills for the position.

COMPETENCIES
To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate the ability to adapt new ideas, work with a team, and the ability to quickly learn a diverse range of products.
Their engineering skills should include:
Stress Analysis
Material Selection
Hydraulics and Pneumatics
Electrical Actuation and Associated Control Systems
Flow Dynamics and Erosional Analysis
2D Drawing and 3D Solid Modelling.

QUALIFICATIONS
An Honours Degree / PhD/Masters in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Control Engineering is required.
1 – 2 years’ appropriate work experience whilst desirable is not essential.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is required.
3D modelling experience is preferable.
Knowledge of machining processes is desirable.

This is a temporary contract for the purpose of covering maternity leave
