Database and Billing Systems Officer

Our client is the new provider of natural gas in Northern Ireland. An opportunity has now arisen for a Database and Billing Systems Officer to join their team.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and development of internal systems, including databases and business systems, across all operational areas. Your focus will be on ensuring the successful delivery of customer connections, maintaining a positive brand reputation and compatibility with inter-company applications.

As a Database and Billing Systems Officer, your remit will involve providing management with advice on billing, customer operations and process development, and the impact on gas and other business activities.

You will also identify and solve problems promptly and efficiently, taking into account further expansion into the Northern Ireland energy market. In addition, you will play a key role within the business’ migration to another billing platform, with involvement in data cleansing and integrity, data protection etc.

Your duties will include:

- day-to-day management of the integrated utility system that manages all natural gas projects, jobs and customer information
- implementing, enhancing and developing systems
- managing the change control process, managing all change requests
- comprehensive testing of systems enhancements and signing-off prior to release
- ensuring tariffs are updated and business processes are in place, ensuring customers are billed accurately
- managing data integrity, working with departments to ensure customer data is logged, updated and interrogated

To be considered for this position, you must have:

- experience in a similar role, dealing with systems or databases
- a third level qualification, such as a degree or equivalent ideally in an IT or systems related discipline
- knowledge of commercial billing systems/databases (such as Sage, Oracle, SAP etc)

As a Database and Billing Systems Officer you should also be an excellent communicator with strong IT and project management skills.

Previous experience in the utilities sector would be beneficial to your application, as would a project management qualification, such as Prince2 or equivalent.
