Production Planner or Scheduler

An expanding high volume manufacturing companywishes to appoint a Production Planner/Scheduler
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating customer orders through the complete cycle from order acceptance to delivery.
He/She schedules fulfilment of customer orders through appropriate loading of machines considering capacity and inventory management constraints.
He/she is the primary contact for customers for all order fulfilment and customer service issues.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives all customer purchases orders and accepts following amendments agreed with the customer if necessary
Plans and manages production schedule to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company’s productive capacity
Creates Work Orders (WO) and reschedules existing Works Orders if required
Participates in the weekly production planning meeting and presents analysis of sales forecasts
Monitors daily production activities (actual vs planned) and takes corrective action as required
Interfaces with purchasing and manufacturing on material status and production planning issues.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Primary Degree ideally with APICS certification
3 to 5 years of related experience running an MRP system ideally is a contract manufacturing environment
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Good analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and anticipate potential problems
Excellent problem solving skills taking a pro-active approach to customer service and taking personal ownership for results
Demonstrates attention to detail
Good understanding of Supply Chain and Materials Management principles
Excellent communication skills establishing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external customers
