Pre-Sales Engineer / Software Development Engineer – Software Scripting (TV Technology)

Our client’s services enable consumer electronics companies, semiconductor companies, service providers and consumer healthcare providers to deliver next-generation devices, systems and services to consumers at home and on the move. With over 14 years’ experience, their TV technology business provides services, products and IP to the digital TV industry. An opportunity has now arisen for a Pre-Sales Engineer / Software Development Engineer to join their team.

To support rapid growth opportunities for the company’s recently launched automating Set-Top Box (STB) test and analysis system, the company is now on the look-out for a software development professional to offer pre-sales support to clients throughout Europe.

As the Pre-Sales Engineer / Software Development Engineer you will be responsible for acting as the technical liaison in all pre-sales technical activities between customers, the sales team, product management and engineering. Significant European travel will be required.

Your duties will include:

- developing and delivering product demonstrations to customers
- developing customer-relevant sample test scripts
- providing development and test environment architecture advice
- providing customer installation and integration support
- responding to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs

To be considered for this position, you must have:

- software scripting experience, using Python, Visual Basic, JavaScript or Perl
- a degree or equivalent in IT, engineering etc
- a willingness to travel extensively throughout Europe for up to 60% of your time

Additionally, as the Pre-Sales Engineer / Software Development Engineer you should have strong presentation skills, the ability to work in a rapidly expanding customer base and good conceptual, analytical and judgment abilities.

Any of the following would be beneficial to your application: experience of supporting a programmable software product; knowledge of digital TV systems including Set Top Boxes; knowledge of hardware systems (servers, IP switches, MPEG4 encoders etc); knowledge of test and diagnostics best practices.
