PHP Developer

SlidePath, acquired by Genetix in May 2009, is a company dedicated to the delivery of world leading software for Digital Microscopy, Medical E-Learning, Image Analysis and Life Sciences Informatics Applications. We have a requirement for 2 experienced PHP Software Developers to join our software development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing PHP web based applications for use in the digital pathology and data management areas. This is an ideal position for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to work within a dynamic development team to deliver cutting edge software.
Qualifications:
Higher level qualification in computer science, software engineering or similar field
Key Responsibilities and Authorities:
- Refactoring and development of new robust, highly maintainable PHP code
- Development of code that efficiently and securely interacts with multiple databases
- Complete ownership of projects, from design, through to review, implementation and go live
- Participate in code review processes
Experience:
- 2 years commercial experience in developing web applications in PHP essential
- 2 years MySQL or equivalent DBMS experience essential
- Java development experience advantageous
- Ability to interpret, extend, improve and document existing code-bases
- Database and application design skills
- In-depth programming capability including advanced algorithms and data-structures including OO techniques
- Unit and system testing
- Source code management (svn or equivalent)

- Self-motivated

- Fast learner that requires minimal supervision
